Columbus, IN – On Wednesday, April 11th, 6:30 pm, the Alliance for Substance Abuse Progress in Bartholomew County (ASAP-BC) in partnership with Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation (BCSC) will host authors Nic and David Sheff in the Columbus North High School Cafeteria, located at 1400 25th Street, Columbus, IN 47201. Nic Sheff, author of Tweak: Growing Up on Methamphetamines and We All Fall Down: Living with Addiction will share his personal journey from addiction to recovery. His father, David Sheff, author of A Beautiful Boy, and Clean: Overcoming Addiction and Ending America’s Greatest Tragedy will offer a parent and journalist’s perspective of watching his son go through polysubstance abuse.
Larry Perkinson, Student Assistance Coordinator for BCSC, notes, “Hearing these stories can help adults and youth understand the kinds of assets that we want to develop in all young people to ensure they are able to meet the challenges of life.”
Beautiful Boy, a feature length film starring Steve Carrel, based on their books, is due for release October 2018.
The event is free and open to the public. ASAP-BC encourages parents, caregivers, mentors, coaches, grandparents and the youth in their lives to attend this event together.
